Richmond, BC • A Rabbit in Minoru Park

For all intents and purposes, Minoru Park is my backyard. Situated a stone's throw away from the home my family has made ours for well over a decade, the park is a stunning botanic wonderland and one of Richmond's treasures. Adding to its charm is Minoru's flourishing cotton-tailed population. Unfortunately, hidden behind the veil of prettiness is a grim tale of animal abandonment and cruelty. Pet owners have, for some time, been leaving their once beloved bunnies to survive in an unsuspectingly harsh environment. The forgotten animals are forced to deal with the cruel realities of the urban wilderness, alone and without any survival skills. Nonetheless, the park was a must-visit while showing David around my hometown. Documented in the images above is his first encounter with one of Minoru's furry residents.
